Ten killed, 14 injured in China hotel fire At least 10 persons were killed and 14 others injured on Saturday when a major fire broke out at a multi-storey luxurious hotel in Nanchang, capital of China’s eastern Jiangxi Province. Firefighters found seven bodies in the debris, and three of the 16 people hospitalised have succumbed to their injuries, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. The fire broke out on the second floor of the HNA Platinum Mix Hotel in the Honggutan New District in the morning, firefighters said. Over 10 construction workers were working on a decoration project on the second floor when the fire broke out, a woman who escaped from the scene, said. The four-storey hotel is connected to a 24-storey apartment building where over 260 residents were evacuated. Brain tumour linked to cellphone use? This has been the subject a great deal of debate in recent years. Cellphones give off radiofrequency (RF) rays, a form of energy on the electromagnetic spectrum between FM radio waves and those used in microwave ovens, radar, and satellite stations. Till now, it has not been proved that RF waves can cause brain tumours, but at the same time, it remains to be proved that RF waves are absolutely safe. It is ionizing radiations  that has been proved to cause cancer by damaging the DNA inside cells. Cellphones do not give off ionizing radiation. In 2011, International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified mobile phone radiation as Group 2B - possibly carcinogenic. That means, there “could be some risk” of carcinogenicity, so additional research into the long-term, heavy use of mobile phones needs to be conducted. Doctor verifies identification marks of actor Dhanush in parentage case  Actor Dhanush on Tuesday appeared before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court in connection with a parentage case. A government doctor verified the identification marks on his body. As directed, the Madurai Medical College (MMC) Dean submitted a report in a sealed cover. The petition was adjourned to March 2. In his petition, Dhanush alias Dhanush K Raja, from T Nagar in Chennai, said the couple – R Kathiresan (65) and K Meenakshi (53), residents of Melur in Madurai – had filed a private complaint before the Judicial Magistrate Court, Melur, claiming that he was their son and failed to provide them maintenance. But, it was completely false as his parents were director Krishnamoorthi alias Kathuri Raja, who directed his first film Thulluvatho Ilamai, and Vijayalakshmi.
