Tamil Nadu says fizz off to Coca Cola and Pepsi after Jallikattu protests  From Wednesday, the top multinational cola brands would become as scarce as the drinking water in Tamil Nadu that they are accused of exploiting, following the decision taken by the major traders associations in the State to boycott the products from March 1. What began as one of the several issues raised during the confluence of agitations that was called the jallikattu protests grew in scope after many among the public began boycotting the cola products marketed by MNC giants Pepsi and Coca Cola. Soon, traders followed suit; some out of activism, many due to pragmatism. The owner of Super stores in Koyambedu said though he was not a part of the trade association, he has decided against placing fresh orders because of the steady decline in demand. Shop keepers who used to sell 50-60 pet bottles began seeing the sales crash to single figures. After the two major traders associations announced the bo

You cannot have mission without money,” Thurgood Marshall College Fund President Johnny Taylor told reporters outside the White House after the signing ceremony. Many of the college presidents also went to Capitol Hill on Tuesday to lobby Congress for more funding. Taylor said the $25 billion is needed to make up for years of under-funding and would cover the country’s more than 100 HBCUs. Several presidents and HBCU advocacy organizations echoed Taylor’s sentiments. GOP lawmakers said there were currently no concrete plans for increased funding. Several of them attended meetings Tuesday that Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., and Rep. Mark Walker, R-N.C., arranged with HBCU presidents, GOP o

He said the US cannot afford to be seen lagging behind. “They may be small in size with different functions and so forth but one rocket can send up, I think it was 104 platforms,” said Coats, who if confirmed would be in-charge of all major American intelligence agencies including the CIA. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on February 15 successfully launched a record 104 satellites on a single rocket from the Sriharikota spaceport in Andhra Pradesh.
