Tweet controversy: Complaint filed on RJ Suchitra’s behalf


A series of controversial tweets, photos and videos were posted on the Twitter account of singer and RJ Suchitra Karthik Kumar on Friday night and Saturday morning, following which the account was deactivated in the afternoon. A complaint was lodged on her behalf with the Cyber Cell of the Central Crime Branch. Sources say that after perusing the complaint, Twitter will be requested to delete or block the content which was posted on her micro-blogging page.
The tweets had grabbed considerable attention and featured private photos of celebrities from the Tamil film industry, some of them in intimate situations, as well as alleged leaked email exchanges.
A few photos and videos which were pornographic in nature were accompanied by tweets stating that it was to expose the state of the film industry.
While these were deleted after a while, tweets accusing a few celebrities of sexual harassment too sprung up before they were taken down and updates were posted on her Twitter page stating that her account had been hacked.
Ms. Suchitra’s account had allegedly been hacked earlier in the week as well.

Husband’s appeal

In a video statement on Friday, which was circulating on social media pages, the singer’s husband Karthik Kumar said the content was indicative of a certain emotional state and requested the press and others not take the updates posted as facts.
Earlier, Ms. Suchitra posted tweets that hinted at a fight between her and a top actor, and ‘a picture of her bruised arm’. After the tweets went viral and raised eyebrows, she sought to dismiss it as a mere game.

Trump administration lifts transgender bathroom guidance The  Trump administration  has ended federal protections for transgender students  that instructed schools to allow them to use bathrooms and locker rooms matching their  gender identities .
